10 Things to Fight Boredom During Coronavirus Self-Isolation and Quarantine

So you’re locked up at home because the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic is spreading faster than wildfire. First of all, we want to say thank you and please, give yourself a pat on the back on our behalf.

COVID-19 is a real threat to global public health that has been referred to as “the war of this generation.” Several companies worldwide are scrambling to create a vaccine, but experts say a widespread and globally-accessible vaccine won’t be a reality until the next 12 to 18 months.

We’re not trying to scare you. We’re trying to inform you and remind you that, while your self-isolation may be difficult, it is the right decision to make.

We’re also here to share some of our favorite things to do to survive self-isolation and social distancing and the boredom that comes with them.

  1. Dedicate your time to that hobby you always wanted to try.

It could be art, writing, cooking, or even yoga. Whatever it is, your excuse was always that you don’t have the time. Now you do!

  1. Spend time rewatching your favorite movies.

Admit it. You’ve always wanted an excuse to binge watch Legally Blonde, The Devil Wears Prada, and Bad Teacher.

  1. Indulge in your skincare routine.

How many of us have skipped nighttime moisturizing or our weekly homemade scrubs? Now is your time, ladies and gentlemen.

  1. Read a book.

We promise reading offers more than passing the time. Pick up a book and do your best to be immersed in it. It can be any book, and no one will judge if you pick up the bedtime stories you loved as a kid.

  1. Go through old photo albums and school reports.

A walk down memory lane is time well-spent.

  1. Exercise.

You can do yoga or pilates, or weight training and cardio. If you want to do it, it’s doable. Find your favorite mobile app or online fitness instructor on Instagram and get going.

  1. PUB-G.

No, we’re not kidding. Just download it already.

  1. Practice your makeup skills.

If there was ever a time to master the smoky eye, it’s now. Grab your blending brushes and relax in front of a mirror. Release your inner Katie Hughes.

  1. Sleep

Literally.

  1. Enjoy the little things you’re learning to appreciate, and enjoy the little things you have now.

You didn’t always see the importance of being able to hug your friend or visit your grandma. You also didn’t always have this much time to spend at home, so maybe you’re seeing more of your kids or your animal companion. Take the good with the bad and this too shall pass.
