Make-Up Shopping for Dummies

I always get this question; what shall I buy? Which brand? What shall I look for?  When you go for make-up shopping there are a number of things you have to remember for more efficient shopping:

“do not overlook the other cheap or relatively inexpensive products thinking they’re not of good quality.”

1-      Not because it costs a fortune, then it’s a good product:

Cheap products are not necessarily “bad”.  See, sometimes when we have money in our pockets and we go very excitedly to buy make-up, we get carried away by the glamorous brands such as, Dior, Chanel, and Shiseido and so on. Let’s admit, standing in make-up shops with all these brands around you definitely gets you excited, but be ware. There are certain things that you do NOT have to pay so much in.  On the other hand, do not overlook the other cheap or relatively inexpensive products thinking they’re not of good quality. That’s because some cheap products are of the same quality as the expensive ones but the latter happens to have “x” brand on its packaging.

Let me give you an example, Lip Liners. You can be smart about it and get a “Revlon Colorstay” Lip Liner for less than 50 pounds or you can get the Givenchy Lip Liner for more than 200 pounds.

Both will give you the same result.  I’ll give you my product recommendations at the end of this article. My recommendations are products I’ve used and guarantee.

“you can buy a Maybelline mousse foundation and be ecstatic about it and you can buy a Dior skin Nude foundation and be just as thrilled.”

2-      First things’ first:

It’s important that you invest in good foundation, concealer, and powder. These things last for months, so you have to make sure that – apart from having the right shade – you have a comfortable finish when you apply these particular products. Now that’s tricky, because you can buy a Maybelline mousse foundation and be ecstatic about it and you can buy a Dior skin Nude foundation and be just as thrilled. Don’t worry, it’s simple. Try it while you’re at the shop using your “clean” hands. If you’re happy with how it feels on your skin, buy it.

Now on to the more “dynamic” items. Items that you can constantly buy and add to your make-up kit.

“You have to make sure that you are buying quality products for your eyes. Do not go for untrusted brands.”

3-      Invest in eye-makeup:

Eyes are windows of the soul, and you have to make sure that your windows stay clean and healthy. You have to make sure that you are buying quality products for your eyes. Do not go for untrusted brands. Mascaras are really important. Again, invest in a good one. If they are too rough to take off, they’ll probably cause your eyelashes to fall off. Get a gentle one.

If you have sensitive eyes, you have to do your own research. Google reviews on products you’re willing to buy. Yes, it’s important that you do this. You won’t be happy when your doctor commands you to stop wearing that eyeliner that you’re used to wearing every day for weeks.

“it’s better to retouch your lip color than having a cracked unmoisturized lips.”

4-      Lasting Lips:

Another question that I always get is, which lipstick lasts longer. I can give you a list of lasting lipsticks and lip stains (Make-Up forever Aqua Rouge, M.A.C. Matte Lipstick, Kyrolan Lipstain, Amanda matte Lipsticks!).

However, in case you have those or others I would say, keep that tiny stick in your purse along with a tiny mirror, it’s better to retouch your lip color than having a cracked unmoisturized lips. To be honest with you, lipsticks are not designed to stay on your lips and never leave, it’s not a tattoo, and it’s just a color!
