A weekend well spent, a mix of culture, history, fitness and fun! We joined Ignite on a weekend getaway to Luxor, the perfect excuse to leave the city and the perfect opportunity to get fit. With views of the beautiful Nile and great weather, it was something everyone enjoyed.
Staying at the Sofitel Winter Palace was great, a place with a history of its own and spacious gardens is exactly what we needed! The weekend started with an intense workout, coached by founder of Ignite; Hussein Abd El Dayem, followed by a light lunch by the pool and some free time. Being a fitness camp, there was another workout at sunset. After that, we visited the Karnak temple where we attended the sound and light show, what a mesmerizing experience to visit such an awe-inspiring place at night!

A big breakfast was the only way to start day 2 of the camp, and then another one of Hussein’s great workouts. A visit to “The Banana Island” was next on the list! We took a felucca to reach the island, and arrived at a humble little island filled with banana trees, we took a tour, and of course some bananas and were on our way. We reached the hotel as the sun was setting; nothing seemed more perfect than to have an outdoor yoga class. Farida Abou El Dahab, a guest on the trip and a yogini, gave us a powerful class.
Our third and last day in Luxor started very early, we woke up at 4:00 AM to ride the hot air balloon. There is no better way to see Luxor than from up above. The beautiful view of the sunrise, great monuments and the Nile was breathtaking! Later that morning, we went to the Hatshepsut temple, and to end the weekend on a fun note, we had a fun acro yoga class. Before we knew it we were back on the road headed back to the city.
