Safe Space: Life’s Purpose(s)

Safe Space: Life’s Purpose

I was thinking about finding your purpose” and it hit me. Why do we think our lives have one sole purpose? Why is it always one ultimate goal, one true love, one mission, one purpose?  Why one? And why the fixation?

It is such a limiting belief, not just in our relationships or careers, but in our entire existence. We find one thing that works for us (right now) and we hold onto it with everything we’ve got. We are terrified of letting go because what if this is it? What if this is the only person I will ever love? What if I am nothing without this goal? And what if this is my only shot?

We become so fixated on one thing and tie our identity and happiness to this one person, this one goal, and this one idea of who we are and who we are meant to be. We fail to change with the times, we resist growth, and so we get stuck in this “past” image of who we once were. The world continues to move forward, but we are at a standstill, stuck, entrapped within the constraints of our old beliefs.

So you wake up one day feeling so lost, so out of place. You no longer know who you are or where you are. You feel so empty and alone, because you are. You are all alone in the past. You feel like a ghost, made entirely of air, so hollow and unable to interact with the material world and everyone in it. You no longer feel alive.

This is because you are resisting the only constant: that there is no constant. You are trying to hold onto things and make them last forever when, in reality, forever does not exist. It’s a man- made unrealistic concept.

You remain stuck in this idea of who you are”, which is no longer true. You are still blinded by a love” that no longer exists, obsessing over a goal” that no longer serves you, and fixated on a purpose” that is no longer yours.

Throughout your life, you will have several goals, identities, purposes, and breathtaking love experiences. This is how it’s meant to be. You only have one life, but that doesn’t mean you have only one way of living.

Recognize what is no longer serving you and let it go. Don’t resist change; FLOW. We are often afraid to let go because we view it as some kind of loss, but nothing is ever lost. Everything you’ve encountered or experienced is ingrained inside you, you carry it with you. You learn from it and grow because of it.

You are ever-growing, ever-changing, endless, and LIMITLESS.

You are not meant to be defined or confined.

“To define is to limit” – Oscar Wilde

You are only meant to be.

So Just Be.
