As you might have heard, October is the international breast cancer awareness month. This year, 15 female-driven local initiatives are coming together to help fund 200 early detection mammograms and sonars for women all over Egypt.
The campaign is the product of the collaborative efforts of FforFarah, Norshek, The Nook, Grain, DS impressions, Badaro, Mother Being, Flower Power, Cairopolitan, Relaxscent, Marisol Cairo, Photopia, as well as the Baheya Foundation.
Strength. Health. Empowerment
SHE stands for Strength, Health, Empowerment. Such a collaborative campaign is the first of its kind in the MENA region. The campaign will be holding a series of events and talks that are meant to raise awareness, and inform women about the Early Detection of Breast Cancer, its symptoms, resources, and support groups.
As for the fundraising part -which is the “nucleus of the campaign”- SHE includes The Pink Pouch, a bag full of goodies brought to us by female-led local brands! The pouch itself was produced by Badaro. It contains a pearl “boob necklace” by FforFarah, a silk scarf by The Nook, a “gratitude journal” by Grain, a soap bar by Norshek, an online course 20% gift voucher by Mother Being, a pin, and a pamphlet by Baheya Foundation, campaign stickers by Malak Mavrakis and Laila Amin, and the campaign poster by DS impressions.
The pouch costs 1,500 L.E and is available on the campaign website or at the events they’ll be holding throughout October. Every pouch sold will fund a mammogram and sonar at the Baheya Foundation, the goal is to fund 200 tests by the end of October.
SHE Program
The campaign’s “Flower Power” launch event will be held on the 12th of October. On the 13th, there will be a visit to the Baheya Foundation, and breast cancer patients will be given souvenir bracelets in support of their bravery.
The 15th and 16th of October will include a women’s circle that will be held at the Norshek store. Furthermore, on the 24th of October, a talk by Nour Emam and representatives from the Baheya Foundation will be at Cairopolitan.
Finally, on the 30th of October, the closing event will be held, where contributors to this campaign will reflect on what joining their forces has accomplished.
The campaign was established by Farah Abdelhamid, the founder of FforFarah, the contemporary jewelry brand that’s all about empowering women and encouraging them to be proactive about their health.
