Who Said Routine is a Bad Thing?

We all suffer from lack of time, and are challenged every single day that the day isn’t enough for our daily tasks. With motherhood, life gets even harder where you have to shuffle every day between your house chores, motherhood duties and your work. But keeping things around you organized, and having a system, just takes a big load off your chest.

“For some odd reason, when I write down the tasks they seem to be more achievable”

In my six years as a mother, I have tried many things to make my life easier –and the only thing I can assure you to do miracles is: having a system.

One of the first things to do is to plan your days –and your week’s tasks– so that you have all what needs to be done across the week in front of you. For some odd reason, when I write down the tasks they seem to be more achievable –and I always get them done. Secondly, I wake up a little earlier than my entire house, it’s a thirty-minute, and sometimes an hour’s, gap –but it makes a huge difference in the entire day’s pace.

I was questioned by everyone around me as to why am I putting them to bed early”

Now coming to the kids, I tried to set a system for them as early as I can. I remember they were almost two-years old when I started to be strict about them going to bed early. I was questioned by everyone around me as to why am I putting them to bed early –but I never listened because: why not? I love this about cultures abroad: parents always do have a life after their kids sleep. When your kid sleeps at eight, you have a few hours for yourself, for your house, for your work. It feels different to enjoy a few hours daily –awake without the motherhood load. It gives me a push all day to cope with the day’s pressures, since I know that once they are in bed I will take a break.

So who said that routine is bad; for me routine is a blessing. There is nothing better than having a weekly plan and fitting all your chores around it. Of course, things do pop up, and exceptions happen, but as long as I am sticking to the plan as much as possible, I am fine. It just needs some will and discipline to put your life in order.

“Motherhood taught me that I could be very effective”

Motherhood is never the end of being efficient; on the contrary, motherhood taught me that I could be very effective. I never knew that I am such a multi-tasker until I got my twins. So make the effort to put your life in shape, and invest in planning a system for your house and enjoy its merits.
