On May 8th, Nady El Video posted a video they had created about celebrities of whom we haven’t heard for years! The video included former singer Hanan, former actress Hala Shiha, former football star Begato, former ballet dancer/actress/performer, Nadine, former rapper Rafee’, and finally comedy star Mohamed Heneidy.
In the video, we get to hear why each one of those former celebrities who seemed to have a bright future ahead of them, decided to call it quits. Some of them were overwhelmed by the idea of fame, while others gave in when things got too difficult and frustrating.

While many of us make fun of “one hit wonders” and other forgotten celebrities, we tend to forget that they must have moments of vulnerability where they regret their choices.
At the end of the video, we see a celebrity who didn’t let the crazy show business phase him out, and continued until he reached his dream of stardom, Mohamed Heneidy.
The video is the brainchild of Mariam Abdel-Gaber. The brilliant outcome, and how viral it went immediately after it was posted by Nady El Video, don’t come as a surprise, knowing how much hard work Mariam put into it. Getting to the former stars’ contacts wasn’t an easy task. Once done, however, most of them cooperated, “it wasn’t hard to convince them. Heneidy took a little convincing, because he was concerned when he knew it was going to be published online”, Mariam tells.

The idea for such a video came to Mariam from her own fear of quitting, “I have a huge fear of being at my peak and give up for any reason whether it be children, or frustration”, she tells, “I wanted to show that this is a difficult decision and when someone makes it they gain certain things. You don’t know whether to be happy or sad about it”.
While this is Mariam’s project, she has accepted help from her friends, “it was hard to be the writer/producer/director of the film, but it couldn’t be done without Ali Mohab, Salma El Kashef and Mazen Helal”, she tells, “and definitely Amr Rabee’ and Karim Mira who surprised me when they accepted to work on an independent project when they have such busy schedules”.
Mariam plans on following up with another film soon, and we can’t wait to see more of her work!
