The 2000s saw a popular surge in films that tended to explore female friendships, love, and romance. Whether you are in the market for something to make you laugh out loud, or you would rather cry your eyes out for 90 minutes, there is a chick flick for you!  A “chick flick” is a slang term for the film genre catered specifically to women’s interests. It generally tends to appeal more to a younger female audience. For years, many people used the term “chick flick”  to belittle those movies. Now, there has been a rise recently in embracing the term and shamelessly loving and appreciating the genre.
