Skype launches its Website in Arabic to help connect families and friends just in time for the festive season

CAIRO, Egypt, 22 November 2009 – Skype today announced its website is now available in Arabic. The website will make it easier for the hundreds of millions of Arabic speakers around the world to download and start using Skype to connect with their loved ones no matter where they are in the world. Skype software, also available in Arabic, is used by millions of individuals and businesses to make free video and voice calls, send instant messages, and share files with other Skype users. People can also make low-cost calls to landlines and mobiles when their friends and family are not on Skype.
With approximately 3.9 million Egyptians living abroad , Skype can help bring Egyptians around the world closer with their families and friends back home. The launch of its website translated in Arabic has arrived just in time for Arabic speakers to connect with their families and friends over the Al Adha feast, Christmas and New Year period on Skype.
“At this special time of year, we are delighted to give Arabic speaking people the opportunity to connect in more meaningful ways without having to worry about time, distance or cost,” said Rouzbeh H. Pasha, Head of emerging markets at Skype. “We hope to enable more Arabic friends and families feel closer when they are miles apart”.
