If you’ve noticed, the entire Harry Potter fandom has exploded all over the world on July, 31st; after 9 years of waiting, a new book is released “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”.
Many consider Harry Potter a book for children, a silly story. What they don’t know is that it couldn’t be further from the truth. When J. K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter, she started writing it because it gave her comfort. I totally believe that you should encourage your children to read Harry Potter. However, read it with them. There’s just one catch, did you hear how much the new book costs? The price ranges from 360LE to 260LE! We know that books are priceless and that this is a large manuscript, but 360LE isn’t something that all Egyptians can afford. And they should be able to, because it’s a lovely story that is perfect for both children and adults. Here are five reasons why Harry Potter is great for adults as well.

You’ll find yourself a part of the gang, picturing yourself in Diagon Alley buying your school stuff, boarding the Hogwarts Express, putting on the sorting hat and choosing the house you belong to. And trust me, you’ll be honest about it; I’m a Ravenclaw, but I know I’m a Slytherin at heart.

The story will hold your hand through life at all times. No matter the difficulties you’re facing, the answer always lies with a character in there. You grow up a year with every book. You find friendship, love, devotion, passion right along with loss and pain… every emotion with its opposite. You find life in every book and that in my opinion is the true magic of the Harry Potter books.

If you start comparing the first book and the last, you’ll feel like you’ve grown up not just seven years but a hell of a lot more. You’ll find that things started to get more complicated. you’ll start getting emotional and you’ll experience heartbreak like never before. Afterwards, you’ll feel like you can face anything with a strong heart.

We Potterheads have this strong on-a-soul-level type of bond with these books. We go out of our way to always have a Potter related thing in our lives. We buy merchandise until now, and can you resist a Harry Potter book at a bookstore; even though you have a ton of editions back at home? We binge watch the movies during Christmas and we pick up the books again in September and December. We mourn the losses until this day and we celebrate the victories. We cried, sobbed and wept for days and days back in 2007 when Deathly Hallows was first released and ever since then we’ve been painfully waiting for a chapter, a paragraph… anything that will takes us back to the Wizarding world.

Now tell me dear friend, isn’t it amazing to be able to go back in time with only a book? To have this journey at your disposal whenever you need an escape, to find friends between papers, and to know that they’ll always be there for you no matter what life shoots at you. It is great, but it comes at a price that some, many, Egyptians wouldn’t be able to afford. The age bracket that the books are directed at is predominantly young. Many of them don’t even have jobs to pay for those books. Many resorted to reading the books online because it’s a lot cheaper, but it just seems unfair to charge people so much for a book that would bring them so much happiness.

I started reading Harry Potter back in 2004, I was 12 and ever since then I never stopped reading and I never stopped reading Harry Potter; I pick it up every year. For me and for many of you I’m sure, it’s our shelter and the only place where we truly feel at home, and I sincerely hope it can be affordable, somehow, to all kinds of readers.
