We all love being invited to beach weddings; the candle-lit sands, the floral chandeliers and the white linens flailing about in the coastal breeze all make for an undeniably romantic setting. The idea of a beach wedding paints a perfect picture in your head, but unfortunately that’s not usually the case for your face. Getting a makeup artist to do your makeup all the way at the destination can sometimes be impossible; especially when it’s during wedding-high-season. We understand the importance of attending the wedding and the difficulty of mastering your make up by yourself as well, so we gathered up tips from professional makeup Artists to help you and your face get through this difficult time.
Diana Richy:
Lashes can transform your makeup look, whether for a night or a day look. Diana recommends lashes by Ardell. 
- Make sure you’ve prepared a clean canvas to apply the lashes to in order to avoid clumping.
- Measure the lashes’ size on your eyes before applying glue. Shorten from the front or back if necessary but be careful not to remove from the end if the lashes are flared.
- Make sure your false lashes start after skipping the first two or three natural lashes and end with your lash line.
- Apply a thin line of glue using a cotton-swab and wait for 30 seconds before applying the lashes. This is to make sure the lashes don’t slide as you adjust. Use black glue if you’re applying eyeliner.
- Apply your lashes as close as possible to your natural lashes, not the skin. Push it down with the back of your tweezers if necessary.
- Add a layer of mascara to secure both your real and false lashes together.

Mai Ayman:
Lipstick, if applied right, will make your lips pucker and remain that way until further notice. For beach weddings, stick to light and nude tones to create harmony. Mai recommends Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick.
- Use lip liner in one shade darker than the lipstick you will be wearing. If your lips are asymmetrical, adjust the difference slightly using the liner. Keep a cotton-swab with foundation handy, in case of mistakes.
- If you’re using normal lipstick, apply a thin layer and blend well with the liner.
- Pat on a layer of translucent powder, and add another layer of lipstick. Your lipstick is now secure as a vault.
- If you’re using liquid lipstick, make sure you bring it along to reapply after eating since it tends to fade.
- If you’re trying to create the illusion of bigger lips, apply a lighter shade to the center of your lips only. Pat with powder and reapply as well.

Donia Sedky:
Highlighting and contouring are necessary, but the key here is to go lightly as to not end up with an over-made face or a sweaty, shiny look. Donia recommends Make Up For Ever HD primer.
- Always use primer. For oily skin, avoid silicon or gel based versions and for dry skin, make sure you moisturize first and use a primer that fills the pores.
- If you’re going to be applying eye shadow, use eye primer as well to avoid creasing.
- Choose the color of foundation you will be using while standing in the sun. apply some on your neck and test the appearance.
- If you do not have problem skin or discoloration, then foundation should be very scarcely applied. Keep in mind that the sun beams are much stronger than your makeup light, and will loudly display any flaking and over-applied foundation.
- Contouring will also have to be very light. The general rule is to draw the number 3 on both sides of your face, extending from your forehead to your jaw line, and adjust from there. Do not opt for brown reddish tones, but rather go for colder colors like brown grey.
- Bronzer for a sun-kissed look should be applied on the apples of your cheek, forehead, tip of the nose and basically any place that is usually hit first by the sun rays.
- Apply a very thin layer of highlighter to your cupid’s bow, nose bridge and top of your cheeks. Make sure you don’t overdo it with the shine to avoid looking sweaty.

Keep your makeup as light as possible when it comes to beach weddings. You can’t overstate that “less is more” in this situation. Kiki recommends
Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner.
- Wear sun-block all over your body before applying makeup. Wear sun-block even if the event takes place at dusk.
- Do not use cold colors in any of your chosen beach-makeup colors. Opt for warmer colors only.
- Coral pink is not a flattering color when in the sunlight, so do not go for products in that shade.
- Opt for a tinted lip balm instead of a heavy lipstick to keep a fresher look
- Don’t overdo it with the black eyeliner. Instead, use eyeliner in the colors blue, green or gold.
- Remember that the more sheer you are, the less you’ll have to touch up and the fresher you’ll look.
