The Launch of Vogue Arabia earlier this year was a huge milestone for the Arab fashion scene. With the launch, came the Dubai Design & Fashion Council/Vogue Fashion Prize Competition, and our very own “Okhtein” were amongst the competitors!
Okhtein is an Egyptian bags and accessories brand founded by two sisters: Aya and Mounaz Abdel Raouf. Their brand has gotten the support of big figures such as Emma Watson, and has helped empower Egyptian women from rural areas. Today a massive success was added onto their list of achievements as they won the Vogue Fashion Prize competition!
As Egyptian talent continues to skyrocket, Egyptian designers are setting the bar high for the region.
The competition had over 100 applicants for accessories and ready-to-wear, competing for an award valued at $250,000, and we couldn’t be more proud that the two hardworking sisters were the winners!
As Egyptian talent continues to skyrocket, Egyptian designers are setting the bar high for the region. Okhtein have now set themselves – through their hard work and talent – at the forefront of the line, inspiring and paving the way for other Egyptian talents!
