This Home-made Burger recipe is a Life Saver!

Home-made burgers are the perfect family meal, they are much healthier than the fast-food variety and everyone can add their own fillings and toppings to taste! This simple recipe will become a favorite in every household.

Ingredients:

500g minced beef
4 portobello mushrooms
4 seeded bread rolls
1 lemon
1 sliced red onion
1 sliced tomato
1 handful of spinach
Lettuce
1 tsp. mild chilli powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper

Method:

– Remove the minced beef from its packet, knead in the mild chilli powder and garlic powder to add flavor to your burgers. Mould the beef into 4 balls, then press them flat with either your hands or a spatula to create the burger patties.
-Place some oil into a frying pan. Once hot, put the beef patties into the pan and cook for 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. After 5 minutes, use a spatula to flip the patties and cook for a further 5 minutes.
-Remove the Portobello mushroom stalks and place them in a frying pan with a dash of oil. Squeeze over some lemon juice and lightly fry the mushrooms until soft and brown.
-Cut the rolls in half horizontally and toast for 1 minute in the toaster. Then lightly butter. You may prefer to use mayonnaise instead of butter.
-Place a slice of lettuce on the bottom bun, followed by the beef patty and the mushroom. Then add the slices of onion, tomato and spinach leaves. Finish by adding sauces of choice before adding the top bun.

Top Tip: For an extra healthy recipe, grill the beef patties and mushrooms instead of frying.
