Living in Egypt isn’t the easiest thing. Even some of the simplest tasks can become a hassle. From going to the supermarket to walking in heels! Here are 8 easy tasks made difficult in Egypt!
Grocery Shopping
This sounds quite simple, but it isn’t! you will almost never find everything you need in the same place. So you will have to stop by the ‘forn’ to get bread, then the fruit and vegetable guy at the corner of the street to get vegetables for your salad, then the butcher for a couple of steaks, and then a supermarket for the rest of your dinner supplies!
Finding A Taxi
It may seem like there are taxis everywhere, but surprisingly it’s not easy to find one! They either say they won’t take you to certain places, or they ask for double the price or they simply look fishy so you wait for the next one. Hailing a cab like we see in the movies never happens!

Wearing Heels
As women, sometimes we just want to dress up and throw a pair of heels on, but then we have a million things to think about and put into consideration. Walking your Dog
This is neither easy on you, or your dog! There will definitely be someone who makes a comment about your dog as a means to sexually harass you, or places with stray dogs that might bark at your dog so you always have to reroute. That’s not to mention when it’s so hot your dog’s feet get burned! You end up standing under your building for 2 minutes and call it a day.
Picnic
This isn’t just made difficult, this is nearly impossible! People will come stand and watch, stray dogs will be stealing your food, you’ll be surrounded by cats, the list goes on.

A morning jog?
A big joke! If you are lucky you might have a proper place to take a run in your neighborhood but other than that you probably can’t. Sidewalks aren’t always available, you might find cars parked on the side walk so you have to find a way around. And since jogging in the street isn’t popular, you might find a few staring eyes wondering what you’re up to.
Wearing a Dress
Sometimes the length of the dress isn’t even relevant, people will comment and your chances of getting cat-called are certainly higher.
Crossing the Street
Ask any expat or tourist about the things they’ve struggled with the most when they moved to Cairo. We bet crossing the street will come up. The hazardous, haphazard task would be made easy with traffic signs that everyone would follow. At the moment, our whole lives flash before our eyes when we’re crossing the street.
