Avengers: Age of Ultron

The Marvel franchise is surely delivering one time after the other. Avengers: Age of Ultron is one of our new favorite Marvel movies. We were lucky to get an invitation from Doritos to see it on the premiere night!

The film is directed by the great Joss Whedon, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlette Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, and last but definitely not least, James Spader.

The film picks up where the first Avengers left off, only now, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has come up with what initially seems like a great plan to revive a peacekeeping program called Ultron, with the assistance of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Ultron, impeccably voiced by James Spader, turns out to be the world’s worst nightmare, instead of the answer to their prayers. On the contrary, Ultron is an artificial intelligence with an added power of being sentient, and as he learns the history of mankind, he decides that in order to save the earth, he must eliminate humanity from the equation. The Avengers now must get over their differences in order to unite and save humanity.

The whole movie had an interesting plot, with great fighting sequences reminiscent of the comic versions of the fights, as well as sharp-witted humor. Although many took to the internet to express their frustration with Black Widow’s (Scarlette Johansson) subplot with Bruce Banner, stating it was misogynistic, many more, including Mark Ruffalo, defended Joss Whedon’s decision to have this subplot. Ruffalo went as much as to say that Bruce Banner was the damsel in distress in this love story.

The film, overall, was a success, with many great performances, funny moments and a great plot.
