Estonia’s UN Delegate Showed us Real Fatherhood when he brought his Son to UN General Assembly Meeting

Estonia’s UN Delegate just showed the world what it really means to be a father. The Delegate brought his son on a United Nations General Assembly meeting.

In a world where most men expect women to be the primary caregivers to their children, a man whose job is demanding and – more importantly in this case – public, made a move that demonstrated quite beautifully how men should care for their children. Usually, when we hear about parents taking their children to work it is always the woman. However, this time, it was a man. A man whose job is considered one of the most “serious” out there.

“Fathers care for their children just as much as mothers. It is just that society has ingrained it in everyone’s minds that a woman is the one expected to take care of a baby.”

This raises the question of “why does it have to be women?” Fathers care for their children just as much as mothers. It is just that society has ingrained it in everyone’s minds that a woman is the one expected to take care of a baby. In Egypt it goes as far as men leaving their wives at their mother-in-law’s house for the first six months after the baby’s birth, just so they can afford the most difficult part of their child’s life!

“Taking your child with you to the class you’re teaching, your office, or even that meeting you’ve scheduled, should be okay.”

This little glimpse into Estonia’s Delegate life should inspire more men to be more involved in their child’s life, and more women to encourage their partners to share the burden of parenting with them. Taking your child with you to the class you’re teaching, your office, or even that meeting you’ve scheduled, should be okay. It should be accepted, because your responsibility to your children should not be compromised by your work. When you step into work, you don’t stop being a parent.
