Tech Her Up: Building a Pipeline Female Tech Talent

L’Oréal Egypt has set an ambitious goal: to train Egyptian women in tech. The “Tech Her Up” program equips participants with skills in high-demand areas, from product management to data science. The program is focused on more than just training. It’s about building a pipeline of female talent ready to step into key roles within the tech sector.

The curriculum is designed to prepare women for the fast-evolving tech landscape, with five specialized tracks:Product Management, E-Commerce, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis, and Data Science. These tracks provide participants with practical, industry-relevant skills that open doors to a variety of career opportunities.

Collaborative Partnerships Driving Change

L’Oréal Egypt, a leader in the cosmetics industry, signed a tripartite letter of cooperation with USAID Business Egypt, funded by USAID and implemented by DAI, and Carerha, a leading platform in empowering women to participate in the labor market. This partnership will strengthen the “Tech Her Up” program to expand support for women in technology and entrepreneurship.

This partnership builds upon a longstanding relationship between L’Oréal Egypt and the Careerha Summits. Over the years, L’Oréal Egypt has actively participated in these summits. It offers expertise through panel discussions, women’s empowerment workshops, and other valuable contributions. Their partnership with L’Oréal Egypt further strengthens the program’s impact by resources aimed at fostering inclusivity, opportunities for women in their careers, and in the tech sector. These partnerships allow “Tech Her Up” to expand its reach and effectiveness. It creating sustainable pathways for women to succeed in the tech industry.

Beyond Tech: L’Oréal Egypt’s Approach to Empowerment

Fund for Women

The Fund for Women empowers women affected by domestic violence. Beyond direct support, the fund works to raise awareness among men and children through social development initiatives. L’Oréal Egypt partner with the Ministry of Social Solidarity to offer our expertise and enhance housing shelters for women experiencing violence.

Beauty for a Better Life

To further empower women affected by violence, L’Oréal Egypt launched a specialized vocational training program. This program builds upon their existing initiatives. Recognizing that practical skills and emotional well-being are both essential for rebuilding lives, this initiative provides survivors of gender-based violence with training in in-demand beauty skills, including hairdressing and makeup artistry. The program combines hands-on instruction with psychosocial support, fostering confidence and self-reliance as women work towards a fresh start. L’Oréal Egypt partners with the Care Foundation to deliver this program, ensuring that participants have access to the comprehensive resources and support networks they need for a brighter future.

Fight with Care (La Roche-Posay)

L’Oréal Egypt, through its international brand La Roche-Posay, has partnered with the Baheya Foundation to launch the “Fight with Care” programme, providing holistic support to women undergoing cancer treatment. The programme, aims to address the emotional and physical needs of cancer patients, offering a combination of psychological, emotional, and physical care. This program supports women undergoing cancer treatment by providing specialized skincare products from La Roche-Posay, designed for sensitive skin. It also offers free corrective makeup workshops to help women feel more confident during treatment. Women also gain access to a wealth of resources through CANCER-SUPPORT.COM, available in Arabic, to connect with support communities. In partnership with the Baheya Foundation, L’Oréal Egypt ensures women have access to comprehensive cancer care.

Stand Up Against Street Harassment

Street harassment silences and intimidates women around the globe, limiting their freedom and potential. But in 2021, a powerful movement for change arrived in Egypt: L’Oréal Paris’s “Stand Up Against Street Harassment” program. This initiative isn’t just about raising awareness; it’s about empowering individuals to become agents of change. Through training in the effective 5D methodology—Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, and Direct—bystanders learn how to safely and confidently intervene, transforming fear into action. Each intervention, no matter how small, contributes to a larger movement creating safer public spaces where women can thrive. L’Oréal Paris firmly believes that every woman deserves to feel safe, secure, and empowered to pursue her dreams without fear, and this program is a vital step towards achieving that vision.

L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science
