10 years ago, a media agency mostly comprised of women would have raised a few eyebrows to say the least. Hashim Khalil, an Account Executive at our digital hub Media & More shared with us his experience, working with a team full of power women!
Hashim has noticed that women are more prone to put more effort into getting a job done when they’re happy. For this, he sometimes resorts to bribery, “it’s not bribery”, he laughs, “but if I want them to do something at work and put their hearts into it I can get them chocolate or a funky souvenir. I discovered that these very little things are a big deal for working women”.
“Women want you to always take their opinion seriously”.
While completely reliable, women get the job done in ways different than those of men. Women seem to do it faster. This could be due to the fact that plenty of them have to be home early, but it gets the job done, “if I ask a woman to finish a certain task she wouldn’t say ‘wait until 9pm’ as a man would, she would have it done on time”.
Sometimes, Hashim is faced with what can only be described as too much estrogen. An office mostly comprised of women will have plenty of conversations about hair and makeup, for example. When this happens, Hashim either takes a break, “when things get femininely out of control, I go work from the meeting room, go for a smoke or for a lunch break on my own”, he tells. Men swear a lot around each other, and a few handful of women who don’t mind swearing, but generally, they don’t swear in front of women all that much. Hashim knows how to control it, “when I’m around women I can’t go far from Yalahwy or Yakharaby”.

When you’re the only man in an all-female team, sometimes you miss out on certain things. When someone receives good news and everyone rushes to hug them, Hashim is always left out, “I sometimes need a hug too”, Hashim concludes.
On daily basis, Hashim is trying to know what women want and he came up with a fair conclusion, “women want you to care and provide some attention every once in a while. Also women want you to always take their opinion seriously”.
