It’s her fault! Look at what she is wearing! Why did she go there? We usually hear those comments in response to almost every harassment incident we witness in a society which blames women for being sexually assaulted.
Many people blame harassment victims arguing that they got harassed because they turn men on. Following this argument, a victim is perceived as a “slut” simply because her clothes are revealing, or even not conservative enough. Feminist and anti-harassment initiatives launched many campaigns to deconstruct this idea. However, the picture below, which went viral on Social Media recently, is the best proof that women’s clothes have nothing to do with them being subject to harassment! It’s proof that even a plastic model wearing an Isdal might be “a turn-on”. We wouldn’t be surprised to find someone saying that it is her fault for wearing a tight Isdal, or a colorful one, or for reassembling a woman.

It is a matter of fact that human beings get turned on by many things whether they are sex toys, objects that they have fetishes for, or even their own fantasies. We can’t deny the man’s right to make out with a plastic doll, which is not a crime, by the way. Let’s be honest, many people do masturbate. However, the level of sexual frustration in this picture is frightening. And this isn’t the only issue. The real problem here is when women are treated like objects; when a man decides to sexually assault a woman because she turned him on. The problem is when the line between this doll, and a real woman, is blurred.
