Omar Samra finds out %20 of Project PoSSUM’s Astronaut Candidates are Egyptian!

We were all extremely excited when we found out that Omar Samra was part of the Project PoSSUM’s candidates and can be the first Egyptian in space. Our excitement was just multiplied threefold. Omar Samra posted that when he went there, he realized that 20% of the astronaut candidates are Egyptians! He posted a photograph with the two other Egyptian candidates, proclaiming them the “Egyptian Space Team”, and it made us all beam with pride.

There are 15 candidates going through this astronaut training, including Omar and the other two Egyptian candidates; Ahmed Farid, spacecraft controller/commander at the German Space Operation Center, and Abdelraouf Elwaqad, Aerospace Engineering student at Embry-Riddle University. Omar’s post definitely made our day, and we can’t wait until our Egyptian young men make it to infinity and beyond!
