In a refreshingly humane move Luxor Governor, Dr. Mohamed Badr, gave the cleaners in the entire Governorate special working hours where they don’t work during heat peak hours. The new working hours will have them work from 8AM up until 10AM. Then work from 5PM until 7PM, thus making sure they don’t work during the times when the sun is at its strongest.

It is worth mentioning that the heat wave which affected us would naturally be a lot worse in Luxor. And while this decision might be considered common precautions elsewhere, it isn’t every day when Egypt’s politicians truly care for the comfort and safety of its workers. We’re very happy with the Governor’s decision and hope to see more decisions like that in the future.
