We try to separate artists from their personal views, or else we’ll end up boycotting most actors and musicians. It isn’t often when we love an artist for their art, and also respect them for their views, and when it happens, it’s glorious. Our love for Farouk El Fishawy has been rekindled recently, after hearing his impressively enlightened views in recent interviews with Wael El Elbrashy and Raghda Shalhoub. Here are 10 reasons for our love for Farouk El Fishawy.
Talented, Diverse Actor
Farouk El Fishawy has an incredibly impressive resume of a staggering 231 acting jobs! Farouk’s roles are as diverse as they come. Since he broke out of his heartthrob shell, he has been an honorable good guy, a chilling villain, a bad boy, a seducer, a spy, and even King Farouk!
“he responded that not only is Egypt’s history bigger than Adel Imam’s movies, but the entirety of the film industry.”
A True Patriot
At this day and age when the word patriot and patriotism gets thrown around easily, Farouk El Fishawy is a great reminder of what a true patriot looks like. When asked about what he thought of Adel Imam’s statement that if someone wants to know about Egypt’s history, they should watch his movies, he responded that not only is Egypt’s history bigger than Adel Imam’s movies, but the entirety of the film industry.
Open about his Past
This might not seem like such a big deal at first glance, but it is vital. Only a man at peace with his past can speak freely of it. This ends up helping those who might be going through the same problems he has gone through. Farouk El Fishawy spoke openly about his heroin and opium addiction and his recovery.

Open to New Ideas
When asked about his opinion on legalizing Hashish, his opinion was quite liberal. He cited that it had worked for Holland, and that it is widely used in all countries, only in secret. Progressive!
Politically Outspoken
Farouk El Fishawy doesn’t compromise when it comes to his beliefs, and that is admirable, especially in a scene where his political views aren’t the most favorable. He was outspoken against the Muslim Brotherhood during Morsi’s reign, and has spoken against the protest law and corruption as well.

Respects Women
Farouk has spoken up against prostitution because he believes it insults a woman’s body and mind. He has also stated that he believes that women should be free, according to Islam. His view on women and their freedom are refreshing in a society where women are still fighting for equality.
Calls a Spade a Spade
He bravely voiced his disdain in regards to actors traveling with President Sisi for no reason. While other actors may have refrained from that to avoid trouble, he made it clear that he believes it’s unnecessary sucking up.
Pro Freedom of Speech
Once again he voiced his opinion regarding something that many actors don’t agree on. He believes Bassem Youssef’s show should have never been cancelled and that it was a mistake to pull the plug on his show.

A “Cool Dad”
He has mentioned that when his son Ahmed El Fishawy started out as an actor, he didn’t interfere. And until now, even with Ahmed’s increasing popularity and his great choices of films, he still stays out of the way and makes sure his son makes his own decisions.
Young at Heart
Only a man young at heart would talk freely about his age especially if his work is in the entertainment industry. Although some websites state that Farouk was born in 1952, he has actually stated that he was born in 1949.
