Inside The Artist’s Studio: Hannah Helmy

Hannah Helmy

Hannah Helmy is a young and savvy artist. She takes talent to the next level. Hannah knew from a very young age that she wanted to pursue a career in art. Her simple yet vibrant art caught our eyes, we knew she had to be part of our Banat El Ayam Di book. We sat down with her to know all about her artistic journey.

Hannah was born and raised in California. She discovered her love for art at a young age as it was her favorite subject in school.

“Ever since I was a child I always knew that art was something I wanted to pursue. Since kindergarten, I always used to ask my mom to draw with me or teach me to draw.”

Artist Hannah Helmy first started experimenting with digital art when she was in middle school; however, drawing digitally wasn’t her primary medium of art at that time.

Hannah preferred to work with alcohol markers and graphite.

She later took a break from digital art to pursue classical drawing. It included both oil and watercolor painting. She got back to digital art when she began to draw fanart for splatoon2.

“Over quarantine, I did get an early birthday gift from my parents, an iPad with an apple pencil! I downloaded procreate and just started drawing with it. It felt more like traditional art than working on my laptop so it just became my default medium for art,” she says.
