Hisham Kharma and Hany Adel’s collaboration ‘Yomein’ is the Talk of Town!

For the past months, people have been sharing anonymous shots of a lion and an astronaut sitting at local coffee shops, or wandering Egypt’s streets like crazy, using the hashtag #Yomein يومين#. Everyone was curious. Finally, the riddle was solved, releasing the magnificent fusion “Yomein”, combining the music of Hisham Kharma with Hany Adel’s unique voice.

We talked with Kharma and Adel to discover the creative concept behind ‘Yomein’ and its production journey. Also, to explore their goals, aspirations, as leading artists in the musical industry. According to Kharma: “Yomein was a gateway to happiness and hope, that people need the most nowadays, and, of course, no one can deny the power of music and the effect it has on people,”

The Musician Hisham Kharma:

“The liberation to living a meaningful life the moment we decide to get rid of that old skin is something I wanted to portray in the song. This is what the costumes represent to me.”

“Many around us, including myself at some point, live a life they’re not happy with or wear an outfit that’s not theirs,” Kharma says. He continues, “The liberation to living a meaningful life the moment we decide to get rid of that old skin is something I wanted to portray in the song. This is what the costumes represent to me.” Kharma chose to wear the lion costume because it represents his decision to quit his job, and pursue a career in music.

Producing Music nowadays:

“Producing music is much easier nowadays, The main challenge is how to market it right”

According to Kharma’s perspective, producing music is much easier nowadays: you can either set up a home studio, or find other affordable studios. The main challenge is how to market it right. Speaking about choosing to work with Hany Adel on this project, “The artists I work with have to be talented for sure; [they have to] fit, and compliment, the song, and lastly is the chemistry with the artist,” he says. Clearly, Hany Adel was the perfect fit.

Hisham Kharma and Hany Adel History: Hany Adel

“I’ve admired the way he literally gave up everything to pursue his dream in music”-Hany Adel

This is Adel’s second collaboration with Kharma. “I’ve admired the way he literally gave up everything to pursue his dream in music. This is what encouraged me to be part of this project,” Hany Adel says.

According to Adel, “Yomein” was what he needed to add to his latest works, because it resembles the state of most, if not all, of today’s youth. “I was thrilled the moment Nesma called to inform me about the song she wrote, and choosing me as its singer. We have been friends for a long time. She is a hard-working, open-minded person who can provide you with a healthy working environment,” he says.

Hany Adel Aspirations:

“Strong belief makes people love what you do”

When digging more into Adel’s aspirations he said, “I always wonder if my work will become heritage after thirty or forty years. Or, [will it] just be temporarily fame? Strong belief makes people love what you do; but sometimes the masses are not the best measure of success. They change their preferences according to trends. So you just do what you love and believe in, and the right audience will follow,”

Era of Speed to Kharma and Adel:

And finally, speaking of the evolution of the Internet and Social media, Hisham and Hany agree that it’s the artists’ connections with their audiences. But they also agree that it’s a double-sided weapon, and you must play smart to win the game.

“Yomein” is a creative cheerful message, that encourages people to stop worrying about things, and start enjoying the beauty moments in life.
