From Labiaplasty to Vaginal Rejuvenation: Debunking The Phenomenon Of Cosmetic Surgery For Private Parts

With the increasing influence of social media and its ability to dictate how we should look, there has been a global increase in aesthetic cosmetic procedures. Beauty standards are expanding to the point where today, there is even a huge demand for aesthetic procedures dedicated to our private parts. These ongoing trends give rise to many questions including whether there is even such a thing as perfect-looking female or male genitalia?

If we put 5 random people of the same sex in front of a mirror and compare their physical appearance, you would quickly find that they all have the same outline, but their features are very different. That difference is what makes us unique and recognizable to those around us. We are not all supposed to look alike and although there are beauty norms that differ per culture and change over time, we will never all look exactly the same.

Taking a closer look at your private parts will tell you just the same, there is no such thing as identical genitalia! This is very important to realize when considering cosmetic procedures for your vaginal or penile area. There is no normal set standard you should be aspiring to.

Does this mean cosmetic aesthetic surgery for your privates is a bad thing? Absolutely not. As long as you don’t aspire to a certain “norm” that you see in retouched pornography, that you understand that the look of our private parts changes with age or after birth and that you do it in moderation. It is also important to realize that we are all supposed to look different! YES, even down there!

Most Popular Cosmetic Procedures For Women

Before you investigate options for “vaginal” aesthetic procedures, let’s split the types of procedures into two main categories:

1. Aesthetic surgeries to the vagina; the vagina is the internal part of your genitalia and is where the penis enters during sexual intercourse. The most common surgical procedures for the vagina are tightening or reconstruction after birth. These surgeries usually have more of a functional purpose rather than an aesthetic goal.

Other surgeries include injecting the vaginal wall with fillers or injecting it with PRP (Platelet-rich plasma injections) to enhance the G-spot to improve sexual pleasure during penetrative sex. Along with that, there is also the procedure of injecting the vagina with Botox to decrease muscular spasms in cases of vaginismus or continuous pain during sex (dyspareunia).

On the rise are several procedures that are replacing surgical procedures to the vagina which include using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). This treatment is focused and targets various depths of the body’s tissue for skin tightening, lifting and contouring.

2. Aesthetic surgeries to the labia; the labia are the external or visible parts of the female genitalia. They consist of the labia majora (the outer labia) and the labia minora (the inner labia). In anatomy books and in pornography the outer labia are always illustrated to be bigger and longer than the inner ones. That being said, 50 percent of women have labia minora that protrude from the labia majora. The inner labia are very sensitive so sometimes if they protrude from the labia majora they can give an uncomfortable sensation during exercise or while wearing tight clothes.

In that case, labiaplasty is recommended for functional reasons. When it comes to surgical procedures for aesthetic reasons, one procedure involves resolving labial sagging due to aging or after giving birth through surgery or by injecting fillers.

Vaginal Rejuvenation’s Rise To Popularity

The term vaginal rejuvenation “making your private parts seem younger” includes a wide array of procedures that can be done to both the labia and the vagina. It is currently extremely popular due to many reasons including feeling insecure about genital aging, changes to the vagina after birth, hormone changes, or simply because people think their private parts don’t look the way they should!

It is now easier than ever to alter physical traits you do not like about yourself and if you think it will improve your confidence, sex, or general quality of life you definitely should opt or consider these procedures! However please before doing any procedures investigate the pros and cons, know that no two vaginas or set of labia look alike, inner labia that are bigger than the outer ones are normal and that aging is a part of life.

Most of the time there is no need for aesthetic procedures in your private area and there is no set beauty standard of how it should look like. Pornographic or cinematic shots of the pubic area are always photoshopped to appear pink, tight and hairless resembling the private parts of girls before they hit puberty!

It’s an unrealistic image and most of the time it will not fix how you feel about yourself or improve your sex life. With all this being said, it is your personal choice at the end of the day, and it is not wrong to want to change something you are unhappy with. Just make sure to make a well-informed decision that is not led by unrealistic standards set by photoshopped images.
