Don’t Try to Recycle your Ex, No Matter How Many Times You Let them go and they Return Back!

“If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. If they don’t, they never were” this infamous quote by Khalil Gibran inspires everyone – for some odd reason – to get back together with their loved ones who left them, but the past is the past for a reason, right?

The past is just there so we can live and learn. Most of us get back to our exes fearing loneliness or that the effort we spent in a certain relationship evaporates, leaving us single and heartbroken. Our mind is very playful when it comes to leaving the people we love. It always sends us messages like “I will never be able to love someone like my Ex”, or, “I will never have what we had”. We proceed in relationships that hurt us just because we don’t want to lose our memories in the fire, but we never believe that this fire is too close and hazardous.

“Our mind is very playful when it comes to leaving the people we love”

Going back to an Ex is an unconscious and tricky trip to wounding memories and selfish resolutions. The same problems will take place in this relationship again; by time. Yes, people change, but not everyone necessarily change to the better. The person who changes, usually changes for his or her own benefit and no one really changes for another human being’s prosperity and eternal happiness. Put yourself in your Ex’s position and always ask yourself, if I were as selfish as they are, would I change for the better? Would I want to compromise for someone? Would I want to provide double and triple what I provided before to make this relationship work?

“Exes aren’t Exes because they are monsters or freaks. They are just real people like us with insecurities and opposite beliefs.”

The more our friends hate our Ex, the more we think that we see something in them that people can’t see. We always tell our family and friends that our Ex is a good person and that he or she just needs encouragement and enlightenment to be better. And yes this Ex could be a good person, a marvelous person… but not for us! This we need to understand very well.

Exes aren’t Exes because they are monsters or freaks. They are just real people like us with insecurities and opposite beliefs. You are an Ex and I am an Ex and everyone has been and will be an Ex at a certain time in their lives. We move on and we meet other people who will never be as perfect as our checklist, but they could have the same energy and open-mindedness to make a relationship work.

Never go back to an ex, an old job or a friend who deceived you. The only things that are fine to recycle are designer bags.
