The renowned "Accor Group" with its hotel brands ,Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure and the soon-to-arrive Ibis brand in Egypt, sponsored the biggest Cuban cultural event to arrive in Egypt; The Magic of Dance show by the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, one of the most prestigious international dance companies world-wide. The performances were held during September.
Accor Hotels’ sponsorship will offer Egypt the opportunity to view spell-binding scenes from such classic ballets as Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Coppelia and Swan Lake. The Ballet Nacional de Cuba will perform in both the Cairo and Alexandria Opera houses under the supervision of the celebrated prima ballerina assoluta who created the company in 1948, Alicia Alonso. Her impeccable talent and eminent status in the world of dance and culture has landed her such coveted awards as the Doctoris Honoris Causa degree by the University of Havana and the commendation for the Isabella Catolica Order, awarded by Juan Carlos I, the King of Spain. She was also invested in Paris as a UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador.
