5 Reasons Why We Love Riham Abdel Ghafour

I think we can all agree that this year’s Ramadan series made us develop a whole new appreciation of Egyptian talent. One actress who never fails to impress us is Riham Abdel Ghafour.  Currently. she’s playing Aida in Qasr El Nile and like always, she’s been a pleasure to watch! So, here are 5 reasons why we absolutely love her.

1. She Knows How To Play Complex Characters

Every year, we watch Riham Abdel Ghafour beautifully bring a complex character to life. A particularly remarkable one was Fifi from ‘La Totfe2 Al Shams’; the uptight sister who has a relationship and sibling jealousy complex.

Like many of Riham’s characters, we couldn’t really determine how we felt about her. Though she wreaked havoc for the rest of the characters, we couldn’t help but sympathize with her and appreciate the journey she goes on. Only a great actress can inspire such feelings.

Also, who can forget Rania from ‘Al-Rehla’? Riham truly knew how to show us a scared and broken woman who somehow overcomes impossible hardships and makes it out alive.

We also can’t forget Farida from ‘Zai ElShams’. This character had us having uncomfortable conversations with our family members. Though one would think we’d dislike a character for sleeping with her sister’s fiancé, marrying him, and living in what would have been her sister’s house, we were still able to feel sympathy for Farida.

This Ramadan, Riham plays ‘Aida’ in ‘Qasr El Nile’ a complex character with a lot of sharp edges and a Machiavellian touch.  Aida’s willing to use any means necessary to protect her family. Her effortless performance made us positively hate her!

2. She’s An Acting Chameleon!

Whatever role she’s playing, she masterfully wears her characters and embodies them. Whether she’s playing an underprivileged woman, a palace lady, a troubled woman, or an uptight teacher, she goes an extra mile to make us live the characters’ story with her.

3. Every Show and Film She’s Been in Has a Strong Message

You know a piece of art is great when it invites you to talk about it, and that’s what Riham Abdel Ghafour’s performances do each year! For example in “Illa Ana’s Rob3 Eirat” story, she played Mona and helped shed light on society’s false perception of divorced women. Also, in the short film, she stars in “Wahda Keda’ or “One Like It” she cleverly highlights the stereotypes and judgments people pass on others. In the film, she plays both her character as she is and as other characters perceive her.

4. She’s A Fully Rounded Artist

Riham’s done it all! She’s been in theatre, drama, and film!

5. She Uses Her Platform For Good

Riham took part in our campaign with Safe kids to help raise awareness about child sexual abuse. Also, she participated in Masr El Kheir’s “Khalawees Lessa” campaign where celebrities helped pay 2,000 women’s debts.

We can’t wait to see how Riham Abdel Ghafour will continue to wow us with her masterful, memorable, and thought-provoking performances. In the meantime though, we’re happy watching Aida raise her brows in Qasr El Nile!
