4 “Cultural Myths” that Actually Work!

Egypt’s culture is an extremely superstitious one. We do love us some paper voodoo dolls and the casual fortune telling session. We shouldn’t dismiss everything our grandparents have done, though, as superstition. Sometimes, there’s a little truth to it. For example…

“Some holistic experts claim that putting bowls of salt in the corners of one’s home will absorb negative energy.”

Salt Really Does Add Positive Energy

If you’re Egyptian, you must be aware of the tradition to sprinkle salt for good luck and to ward off “evil eye”. This, actually, has a little truth to it. Some holistic experts claim that putting bowls of salt in the corners of one’s home will absorb negative energy.

Plants/Flowers/Leaves

In Ancient Egypt, people would collect palm leaves and have them in their homes. Nowadays similar traditions are still observed, for example on Palm Sunday. Feng Shui experts did confirm that keeping fresh, green plants around the house emits positive energy and balances out negative energy.

“a beautiful smell is a wonderful way to clear one’s head and be in a better state instantly. It is only logical that positive energy is derived from the smell of incense”

Blue Eye

The blue eye has been a protective symbol for as long as we can remember. Different versions of it are found in Turkey, Greece and many other countries. And the eye itself has been a symbol of protection since the Eye of Horus of ancient Egypt. However, focusing on the color blue, we’ll find that it’s the color of the throat chakra. The throat chakra is all about spirituality and communication, and the color blue is associated with calmness and serenity. No wonder people used it to ward off evil vibes!

Incense

This is pretty straight forward; Egyptians have always used incense to lead evil spirits away. And now in holistic atmospheres you will almost always get a whiff of incense floating through the air. This is because a beautiful smell is a wonderful way to clear one’s head and be in a better state instantly. It is only logical that positive energy is derived from the smell of incense.
