The hot pursuit of signature “L”

In every Girl’s life there is a special Lipstick… the lipstick, aka her signature look. She might have not have found it yet, she might have looked for it for years. And got lost in phases of bad shades, and endless trials of new fashionable colors. But there is only one lipstick that she will wear every day – with any outfit, day or night – and feel confident and totally herself. It’s like she was born to wear it, or It was created for her.

In matters of Love, do we look for our signature lipstick? Are we trying different relationships till we find what we are really looking for? Does your lip style defines you and expresses your inner self? Bold red lips, or fun with neon, or classic and low profile nudes. It’s also kind of hard to separate a perception of a lady from her lips.

My signature lipstick is red, a Mac lipstick called “Lady Danger”, rich, creamy red lipstick; the kind that slips on like satin and sets like velvet, surprisingly the name Lady Danger says it all, it is the kind of relationship I am looking for, I want a daring, adventurous, strong, mysterious, but classy, kind and tender man.. Anarduous combination that is almost impossible to lay hands on!

For people, red lipstick is always associated with a particular woman. The charismatic, clever and fearless, whose scarlet lips signaled like a red flag that she is in charge. It is the trademark of an independent woman, powerful and confident. However, I’ve realized that, the woman who dares to wear red lipstick welcomes the gamut of assumptions about her character. It could scare men away, men who are insecure and shaky, or it could intrigue and challenge others, but depthless, and away from true passion.

When you look for a partner, it is far beyond what you’re searching for, it is also how he will identify you and perceive you in relation to what he is seeking.

Over the years, I learned that Love & Lipstick are a tough equation for a Girl who knows what she wants. You don’t want to be closed minded and limit your choices. So you try and wear other lipsticks! Pink, what’s wrong with it? pink is nice. It’s a happy soft color. Let’s try pink! No lipstick at all! Well, that shows a direct character and could mean honesty! Orange. A bit aggressive, but crazy and fun, no?!

There is nothing wrong about experimenting. After all, how you will know exactly what you want unless you find what you don’t want? And going through failures and making wrong choices gives wisdom and profoundness to the character. We need to get lost in order to find our way!

But as Julia Roberts once said in My Best Friend’s wedding movie, “Crème brûlée can never be Jello” and I know I want Jello!

Relationships as complex as they are, are also clear and simple. And after a series of wrong lipsticks, I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I believed that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. And who will see you exactly as you are. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together.

They say relationships are based on compromises and making a constant effort to make it work,  or see what’s beyond the surface, I say find what you’re looking for and it will work itself out, Then, everything falls into its right place.

And, you’ll have found your signature love.
