Stardom Runs in the Family
Nelly comes from a certain artistic, Armenian family – whose members are now well-known to all Egyptians now. She is the cousin of one of our favorite leading ladies, Lebleba. Not only that, but her older sister was Fayrouz, the famous child star. Fayrouz’s collaborations with Anwar Wagdy are timeless classics. Nelly followed in her sister’s footsteps. She remained in the spotlight for much longer, though. With classics in all different kinds of entertainment belt, Nelly made sure she will always be remembered.
“She is the cousin of one of our favorite leading ladies, Lebleba. Not only that, but her older sister was Fayrouz, the famous child star.”
Nelly can do Pretty Much Anything
She can act, sing and dance. This, again, runs in her family. Directors saw that ability in her and used it to its full potential. In most of her movie roles she sang and danced. This pure form of talent, combined with her beauty and wit, captured the hearts of Egyptians.
Beautiful, Talented Women can be Funny, Too
She certainly proved that, with her cheeky sense of humor. Her sense of humor was easily detected since she took on her first roles. Those first roles led her to be in over 60 feature films! Keeping in mind the fact that she also starred in television series, it is quite impressive. Not only that, but there were also the fawazeer…
“Each Ramadan, people waited for Nelly’s fawazeer. They were entertained by the funny, amusing song-and-dance sketches done by their favorite entertainer.”
Fawazeer Nelly
Fazzoura is Egyptian-Arabic for a puzzle. Each Ramadan, people waited for Nelly’s fawazeer. They were entertained by the funny, amusing song-and-dance sketches done by their favorite entertainer. They also had their minds stimulated by the clever puzzles presented at the end of the show. Nelly’s fawazeer are still a classic. Proof? Television channels still run them during Ramadan until this very day.
