Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter Face Off

Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are known for being eccentric yet brilliant actors with cheekbones you could cut yourself on. This is not where their similarities end, though. And by the end of this article you will understand why we had to write it. We simply had to reveal the fact that Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are the same person. You heard that right. We’ve even got evidence!

Looks

Let us start with the most obvious one. Look at them! Wide, dark eyes: check. Messy brown hair: check! Sharp cheekbones, round pouty lips, pointy nose: check, check, check!

Career Choices

Carter’s first on-screen acting role was in 1983, Depp’s was in 1984. When Carter landed her first critically acclaimed role in Lady Jane back in 1986, Depp was participating in the first serious film since the beginning of his career, Platoon. From then on, both actors continued picking out some of the most diverse roles in film history. Carter was Elizabeth in Frankenstein and Marla Singer in Fight Club. Depp was Dean Corso in The Ninth Gate and Raoul Duke in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. They followed each other’s footsteps with an accuracy so precise, we’re surprised no one thought of this before!

The Chameleon Syndrome

Their diverse roles rely on diverse shapeshifting, which they are incredibly good at.

Burton, Burton, Burton

Tim Burton is a brilliant director who takes twisted to an entirely new level. He has lots of trademarks that make his movies very easy to identify. Trademarks like spirals, dark circles around actors’ eyes, messy dark hair and gothic atmospheres. Another one of his trademarks is that most of his films star either Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter, sometimes even both! You may say it’s not very surprising since Bonham Carter is his partner and Depp is a close friend of his, but not all directors do that. Helena Bonham Carter even commented on it once saying “we’re both pale and tubercular and have big eyes. Tim’s always said we would be great in a silent movie.”

Where it gets creepy

Depp was born on June 9th. Bonham Carter was born on May 26th. Thus, making them both Geminis. Both actors were nominated to Oscars more than once, and both never actually won. Both actors have two children, surprisingly not the same children and not with each other.

Maybe it is slightly creepy that not only are they so alike, but their lives are so intertwined as well.

It’s like one version of them wasn’t enough and we had to be given two in order for us to properly appreciate the magnitude of their brilliance.
