The Handmaid’s Tale

Margaret Atwood’s dystopian post-apocalyptic worlds are intriguing as they are disturbing. The Handmaid’s Tale is no exception. It is a story of a woman forced to live in a world which has changed so rapidly around her to the extent that her only chance for survival is by completely disregarding her past life and accepting that the world is no longer what it was. Now that she lives in this world where women of her status can only be mere tools for repopulating the world, will she continue to keep her head low and survive or will she do something to change that? A heart-wrenching drama that is also an incredible page-turner, A Handmaid’s Tale is one of the best dystopian novels in modern literature.
