  1. Turkey

When cooking your turkey, try to avoid using butter and replace that with olive oil. Turkey breast have the least amount of fat, so instead of cooking a whole turkey, you can just use the breasts.

  1. Stuffing

The turkey stuffing might be the yummiest thing, but it’s not the healthiest! Instead of using rice, you can chop up some of your favorite vegetables and place them in the same pan as your turkey. It will get the most perfect flavor from the turkey and will be extremely healthy. Also, sprinkle some nuts on top to get that stuffing feel.

  1. Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are a big thing during Christmas, but there are healthier things to do with potatoes. You can either bake and serve them with yogurt as a dip, or you can roast them with some pepper, nutmeg and olive oil.

  1. Soup

The cold Christmas weather means soup! Indulge in some sweet potato soup that will keep you warm. It might have more calories than other soups, but it’s definitely yummy and a healthier alternative to using sweet potato in pie. Speaking of which…

  1. Pie

Moving on to desserts, pie is always on the table during Christmas. So try to use fresh fruits instead of preserved ones. Apple cinnamon pie is the perfect way to go!

  1. Cookies

What is Christmas without cookies? Usually people go for the classic chocolate chip cookies, but maybe this year you can make oatmeal cookies. They are just as yummy and a little healthier.

  1. Gingerbread

Gingerbread house, gingerbread men, gingerbread is all over the place during Christmas! Try to lessen the amount of sugar you use and you can even substitute it with honey for delicious, healthier ginger-treats!
